Armature Coils
Armature Coils
Armature Coils and Equalizers for DC Motors and Generators Wound Rotor Formed Coils
The active conductors in the rotating element of DC motors and generators are often referred to as armature coils. These coils are installed in open or semi-closed core slots on the cylindrical surface of the laminated core. Armature coils are made from round or shaped magnet wire with one or more turns. The two sides of an assembled armature coil are subject to the magnetic flux of adjacent stationary poles of opposite polarity in the field frame. The leads of the armature coil are terminated into a commutator.
